French Town Royville

Henrik Hoexbroe has created a lovely diorama of a French town – Royville – in the 1960s. It features – among others – an art-deco style petrol station, a Citroën car dealer, a hotel, and a train station. It’s very much ‘alive’ because of the many little scenes and Henrik’s brilliant car MOCs.

Modular City

Eurobricks member Alex54 brings us new pictures of his fantastic modular creations:

To start showing us how he-rebuilt all of his previous modular buildings and how he agonized over which scale to settle on, he’s brought us an in-depth history of his Yellow Modular House:

Alex takes scale very seriously and provides all of his reasoning and conclusions in a very in-depth discussion. He shares his experience so you can learn how to build a fantastic layout like his! The result truly is amazing…and so is his clever use of binoculars. :)

International Balkan Contest

Keen on getting your hands on a gorgeous spanking new 10219 Maersk Train? Any chance you also happen to come from Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece or Turkey? If your answer to both of those questions was “Yes!”, then I’d urge you to get building!

Balkan LUG showdown ahead!

Balkan LUG showdown ahead!

The Bulgarian LUG Lebgo is organizing a big international contest with awesome prizes – and even if you don’t quite manage to snatch the Maersk train, there’ll still be plenty of reason to try and do your best. The contest’s theme is very simple – “The Architecture of Your City”, and the rules are thoroughly presented and explained by yours truly right here. Any further queries you might have should go in that thread, and I’ll try and respond as soon as possible.

As of this moment, there’s over one month remaining until the contest deadline (June 30) – so if you’re from our part of Eastern Europe, you want to impress people with your MOCcing skills and earn yourself a decent reward while at it, now’s the time to strike!

BadLeo’s Amazing Sydney Opera House

A week ago, Hong Kong-based MOC expert BadLeo introduced us to his latest work, codenamed Project Angel Wing and inspired by one of his favourite buildings from the time he was living in Australia. Back then he was still anxious to get it done on time for the Cityplaza exhibition and wasn’t sure if he would manage to find enough time to add LED lights…

A true masterpiece - in bricks.

A true masterpiece.

I however firmly believe that Project Angel Wing would have been a huge success regardless of whether it had featured LED or not. As it happens, it actually does also light up – and that’s a good thing, because this MOC definitely deserves to bathe in light. BadLeo’s work is one of the most gorgeous landmark MOCs I’ve ever seen – and definitely the best representation of the Sydney Opera House by far. He’s managed to preserve the fantastic curves and angles of the original building by applying an ingenious technique – and the final result is simply stunning. He’s also been kind of enough to share detailed info on the progress and development of his build – go ahead and see for yourself how he’s done it.

If you’re in Hong Kong – this beauty will be on display until May 2 as part of the aforementioned exhibition. Make sure you don’t miss it – and do send us a few more photos… Yes, I admit, I just can’t get enough of this.

A Tale of Two (So Far) Post Offices

L. G. Orlando has MOCced up two distinctly different post offices representing typical US and European architecture of such buildings.

Spot the differences.

Spot the differences.

He’s taking requests for other PO versions and I must say I’m quite looking forward to any additions L. G. may come up with in the future. An architectural comparison between civil structures of the same kind in different corners of the world, as constructed by the same builder, sounds like an intriguing project and one which I will definitely try and keep C-T.net readers up to date with.

They Say Black Is Slimming

I’m not entirely sure if that’s the case here – but it certainly is jaw-dropping. The obsidian stones carried to the site of this tower from Sumerian lands really come to life in pitch-black brick form.

Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language

Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language...

The Tower of Babel is said to have been a stunning achievement, the crown jewel of all man-made structures of its time. It is no wonder then that skilled brick-architect Arthur Gugick went to such trouble to ensure that its potrayal lives up to the standard set by ancient myths. Then again, he never really intended to build the Tower of Babel in the first place – all the more reason for me to tip my hat to this amazing build!

New Modular

Voila, it’s tan, and it’s cantilevered.

Did you see this coming?

Did you see this coming?

What it isn’t is official – but I’m sure I didn’t quite manage to fool too many of you. Still too early to try April’s fools jokes, I guess… In any case, this one is a very neat and highly detailed modular MOC – built by Sean Foreman and bearing a slight resemblance to the Factory style of 10190 Market Street, which by the way is the kind of set I admit I’d be more than happy to see make an official return in one form or another. In the meantime though, we’re still waiting to see what Jamie Berard & Co have really got in store for us…

…Yet Another High-End Boutique

Just days after JaredChan’s stunning Emporio Armani store comes an equally impressive Ralph Lauren store. Jared utilizes a number of great building techniques, such as using windows for shelves (Peek inside). The Dark Orange and White colour scheme suits the building perfectly.

Ralph Lauren himself would be proud!

The Dark Blue awnings are lovely, and he’s even built a full interior. See the full post here. Keep up the amazing work, Jared!
