Expand the Winter Village II

Deadline January 30!

Classic-Town.net and Eurobricks invite you to create your own addition to the popular winter village subtheme that TLG has presented during the holiday season for the past three years.

So far, TLG has provided us with three places to visit, a lovely Winter Toy Shop, an equally inviting Winter Bakery and this year’s new Post Office, but wouldn’t it be nice to have an even larger Winter Village full of festive fun?

Well, now you can, by expanding the theme with your own Winter inspired creation!

As we enter the holiday season yet again, thoughts turn to fun and winter activities and where better to enjoy those than in your own Winter Village? Official Release from TLG: Continuing the winter scene series, the Winter Village Post Office is the perfect snow-covered setting. In the cozy post office, the worker is hard at work sorting all the mail into containers and sacks, while upstairs, there’s just time for the postman to take a break before setting off in the traditional post car with all the letters and gifts. From the pavilion outside, musicians fill the air with music, while children take in the wintry atmosphere by the park bench before throwing snowballs at each other – the musicians had better get ready to duck!

  • Includes 7 minifigures: female post office worker, male postman, female, 2 kids and 2 musicians and a dog!
  • Post office features dark-green split roof with snow, fireplace, light brick, table, coffee mug, and lamppost and mailboxes outside!
  • Also features evergreen tree and assorted minifigure accessories

This Sno-Cat Is Ready for Anything

I love winter mountain sports and what better way to enjoy them than by riding a Tucker-Terra Sno-Cat to the summit.  Flickr user KenRO2009 has built a great Minifig-scale version of the Tucker Terra Sno-Cat and this MOC appears to be based on the Tucker-Terra 1600-Series.  The MOC is a spot-on model and features a track design that really captures the look of the Tucker-Terra tracks.  I love the use of the tires in the track design!  It also has full independent track suspension, front/rear steering, and a great articulating front plow.

KenRO2009 has obviously spent a lot of time looking at the 1600-Series as he managed to capture a lot of details that can be seen in the pictures on his Flickr page.   He has also created a nice little Arctic Explorer scene using a white towel for snow (very innovative).  Be sure to head over to his Flickr Photostream to check out more detailed pictures of this great MOC!

Ice Palace

Winter is officially upon us here in Wisconsin and Stacy Sterling is celebrating the arrival of the cold, snow, and ice with this beautiful LEGO Ice Palace.  She says that this MOC was inspired by her childhood memories of visiting the Winter Carnival Ice Palace in St. Paul, MN.  She was especially fond of seeing the Ice Palace lit up at night with all of the beautiful lights.  She has managed to recreate that memory here, even going so far as to use LEGO 9V lighting from the LEGO ‘Light & Sound’ series that was out in the late-80′s to early-90′s.

Decorating for the Holidays

The holiday season in upon us and The Brickster is getting in the spirit by doing some decorating in his LEGO town.   In this great thread on Eurobricks, he is asking the LEGO community to explore a number of holiday-related questions.  For instance, he wonders what LEGO sets might go well together to form a nice winter scene (perhaps in addition to the recently released Toy Shop)?  He also wants to know how you ‘convert’ your official LEGO sets for the holidays and whether you put up a small holiday scene in addition to your ‘normal’ decorations.  Finally, he asks about holiday decorating tips for your LEGO city.  Head over to Eurobricks and give you input on how you celebrate the holidays in your LEGO world!
