PRR B8a 0-6-0T Steam Locomotive

July 4th, 2009

Eurobricks member Cooper creates a “top-notch” O-6-OT train engine and shares it in the EB Trains & Town forum.  Using many smooth pieces and large train wheels, his locomotive has a wonderful design that captures the look of the original Pennsylvania 5071 locomotive.  If you admire this creation, be sure to post a response here or on Cooper’s EB thread.

Lugdinium City Church

July 4th, 2009

Brickshelf member o0o-Cobweb-o0o shares pictures of a beautifully designed church.  The creation almost has a “Samurai palace-like” design about it with bagoda-style roof and unique color combination.

1929 Ford Stakebed Pickup

June 30th, 2009

Flickr poster ‘taltosvt’ brings us this excellent 1929 Ford ‘Stakebed’ pickup. It’s based off of a picture he found on a historical society site and the color scheme really jumped out and grabbed me. He did a great job capturing the shape and scale of the truck and I could see this fitting in on any town layout. In fact, I may be ‘borrowing’ his design for my layout.

If you have some time, check out the rest of ‘taltosvt’s’ Flickr photostream as he has some great Train MOC’s on there as well! I know I’ll be looking forward to seeing more great things from him in the future.

An Ode to Pets

June 30th, 2009

Most people who know me know that I’m a huge fan of pets and an advocate for animal rights.  In fact, I care about Allie (my Beagle) more than I care about most people. Fellow Eurobricks member DARKspawn tugs on my pet-loving heartstrings with this cute little petshop he posted on Flickr and on MOCPages.

What’s more is that this MOC is devoted to his cat, Dexter.  The cat with the $2,000 eye (read his Flickr page for more on that). I absolutely love sentimental MOC’s!

Be sure to check out the pictures of this MOC because there is lots to love here.  The chains holding up the awning are a great idea and I really like the use of the droid arms to build the TV antenna.  The fascia of the second floor also boasts some neat detail along with some nice planter boxes that give it a really ’sweet’ feel.  I love the overall concept he has achieved and the open back really evokes the classic feel from the official LEGO sets of my childhood.  That makes this MOC not only way cute, but very ‘playable’ as well. A combination I truly love!

Teddy Celebrates His 500th Eurobricks Post…

June 29th, 2009

And he celebrates it in style by building an amazing train station in the ‘Cafe Corner’ standard. What drew me to this MOC was the impressive arch work that creates the roof line of the station as well as the intricate architectural details that give the front of the station a look that fits in perfect with the Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. But he doesn’t stop there! Be sure to check out the intricate interior details such as the platforms, ticket counter, and waiting areas. You can check out more pictures in his Brickshelf Folder (once moderated) or on his MOCPages Page. Also, be sure to stop by and discuss this MOC on Eurobricks.

Fogo de Chão in Modular Scale

June 28th, 2009

Over the past 12 years, Fogo de Chão, the famous Brazilian steakhouse, has slowly expanded into North America, bringing their unique churrasco style of roasting meat to a new audience. Now, taking it a step further, EuroBricks administrator, Classic-Town.net founder, and recent addition to the LLCA (LEGOLand Carlsbad, CA) Master Model Builders, Hinckley aka Mark Larson, has brought this taste phenomenon to a LEGOLAND modular setting.

7898 Cargo Train Deluxe: A Good Value Starter Train

June 23rd, 2009

If you are still planning to buy one of Lego’s R/C trains, 7898 Cargo Train Deluxe is certainly a beauty.  YouTube couple Nickname2002 has shared a wonderful video of their build of this high quality train set (video shared approx. 3 month ago).  7898 includes a classic-style engine, four wagons, two vehicles, cargo, 20 curved track, 8 straight track, 2 points/switches, and everything one needs to make the train swoosh along the track (except for batteries).  Cargo Train Deluxe is certainly a great starter set, and a good value at only $150 (US).  After doing some research, train fans give  7898 a pretty nice review, and it’s still available at Lego SAH.  Thank you Nickname2002 for taking the time to share a video of this set!
